I watched Sherlock Holmes today in Taiwan. I'd say 3/4th of it was pretty slashy. The person who gave us our tickets spoke english, which was a really good thing since they've translated the name into something else that sounds nothing like Sherlock Holmes. I don't have any comments on the movie except it was entertaining. Unfortunately the sound was a little..off? So I didn't really understand what they were saying a lot of the times. Ah well, good eye candy to stare at :D
Harley Stumpernator
Sep. 29th, 2009 12:13 amGot some pictures of Harley. He's been doing very well today and yesterday.
Uh, I guess don't click if you're grossed out by stumpy limbs.
( Stumpy pictures )
The sutures go from the circles I drew.
Also, you can kinda tell where fluids are building up by his crotch there. That reddish fold of skin. Before, it was leaking out of the sutured area, so he was bandaged up to keep it from getting everywhere. Since it's finally sealed up, I'm leaving the bandage off. I might have to put the cone of shame on him though, since I just caught him licking at it.

For something more cheerful and fun, a meme(taken from
mijan)! I don't tend to do these, but this one sounds fun:
1) Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/bands etc. that you've had an obsessive fannish love or interest in at some time in your life.
2) Have your f-list guess your favorite character/member from each item.
3) When someone guesses correctly, strikethrough the item and put the name of your favorite character next to it.
So, here's my list of books, movies, TV shows, and so on:
1. Supernatural
2. Gundam Wing
3. Stargate SG-1
4. Firefly
5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel
6. Weiss Kreuz
7. Bones
8. Merlin (BBC)
9. Lord of the Rings movies
10. Lost
11. Fushigi Yuugi
12. Hikaru no Go
13. Kyou Kara Maou
14. Rurouni Kenshin
15. Arrested Development
16. Dir En Grey
17. X-men (comics and movies)
18. Wolf's Rain
19. Harry Potter
20. Xena Warrior Princess
(ah crap, I'm gonna actually have to choose a favorite character, cause for some of these I have multiple)

So I have a three legged dog now. He seems to be doing fine, just a bit panty. The vet said that his temperature is a little high, so I to bring him back tomorrow for a check up. He gets around fine when he's standing up. Sitting down is fine too. Standing back up ranges. I think he'll be fine on his bed, but he had some trouble in the car. He hasn't peed or pooed yet though. I hope the bandages he has on aren't bothering him in that department. Normally they actually wouldn't even have bandages, but there's a little fluid buildup going on. Actually, I think he might have dribbled or peed a little in my car. ^^; I'll have to do a sniff test later.
Happy Birthday!!
Sep. 21st, 2009 05:40 pmOMG Happy Birthday
tracy_loo_who!! :D I love you for getting me into Supernatural! Wait, no, I love you for being adorable and taking weird glamour photos in an asian country. Oh, or! I love you for your BSG picture parodies and ginormous pic spams of Dean and Castiel's face. Hmm, or maybe I love you for stalking following Misha through the conventions and being so spectacularly shy(not that I'm any better) when confronted with him face to face for the first time. Actually, no, I think most of all I love you for all our random conversations throughout all these years. Or maybe I just completely adore you. Cause you're awesome.

Harley update
Sep. 15th, 2009 07:24 pmYeah, so with the biopsy, it's confirmed. He has osteosarcoma. So the standard treatment is amputation followed by chemotherapy.
Now I guess I need to convince my parents to pay for this cause I can't afford it. The amputation is about $1000, and the vet is gonna draw up an estimate for the chemo, which I'll learn tomorrow.

Harley, my unlucky greyhound
Aug. 31st, 2009 07:50 pmSo I took Harley to the vet today and they took a look at his leg(he was limping last week, and it's a bit swollen) and said it was probably a bone tumor, and they took x-rays with confirm it. The tumor part was caught early at least.
But I took a look around online, and it seems like Harley will probably need the leg amputated(the vet did mention this too). Most bone cancer/tumors are malignant. Osteosarcomas are the most common. Secondary spreads are a serious problem. Amputation will stop the bone tumor and provide pain relief, but usually by the time a bone tumor develops, there's a huge risk of it spreading in the lungs. After amputation, usually the dog will live for about 3-4 months without chemotherapy, and 1 year with it. The chemotherapy is supposed to help stop the secondary speading I think.
He's going to get a biospy done on Friday, and results will be back in about a week. I thinking of asking them to take a chest x-ray as well, to see if there's any secondary spreading already.
Links I looked at:

This sucks.

So, I figured out what I'm finally gonna do with this thing. Since my livejournal account is mostly used as a RL type thing, and as a reading page where I just friends people to read and keep up with their fic, this will be my actual fandom journal. I'll probably just be posting random fic ideas that I'll never write, and post art. I may or may not crosspost with lj. Art, I probably will at least notify on lj, and will for the most part be unlocked. Fic ideas, will probably all be locked and filtered. Not that I don't want people to run off with them if they really wanted to, but because I'm uncomfortable with the fact that my current fic obsession is SPN RPS, and I really don't want people to read them if they're uncomfortable with that as well.
And considering that I have like less than 10 people I'm currently subscribed to, and I have no idea who's subscribed to me, this journal will probably be rather empty. At least until I get off my ass and actually do some art.

Crack!Dream
Jun. 11th, 2009 01:00 pmSo last night I dreamt I was Jared Padalecki. I was still my same height though(at least I'm assuming I was since my perspective was from the height of someone tiny, not like a huge giant like Jared is.)
That's even more cracky than two weeks ago when I dreamtI was Cyclops from X-men. Wait, it was a different dream from that one. I can't remember it anymore. I might have been Cyclops but I remember more of Xavier floating around. It was X-men related in any case..
That's even more cracky than two weeks ago when I dreamt
Figured I should post something.
I had a dream where I was a guy and shot laser beams out of my eyes underwater while going after someone. I got stabbed in the stomach, then there was a chase scene with me trying to get away with a stab wound.
I've been reading X-men fic that primarily features Cyclops this past week. Like, besides work, that's all I'm doing.
So, I may be reading a liittle too much X-men fic. But I don't think I care cause it was a cool dream. I had laser eyes! And dreams where I'm a guy are always fun. Especially if I have sex in the dream, cause they're very wtfish when I wake up.
Also, I think I'm the only person I know who did not like the Star Trek movie. Seriously. I thought it was retarded. Which maypartly completely be due to the fact that I really fucking hate time travel. I'm just so sick of it. In books, tv, and movies. I honestly think the only time I've liked time travel was in the SG-1 Continuum movie. I've hated it in every other episode of SG-1 too. I did like the Back to the Future movies simply because it was so retarded that it was just good silly fun. I can tolerate it in the Terminator movies cause I just focus on the action and ignore the plot. But with Star Trek it was just such a huge(all) part of the plot that I couldn't ignore it and focus on the characters.
Then awhile ago my sister recommended a series by Julian May which I read like...2 and half books in the series before I finally gave up(yeah, I'm stubborn. I go, "It'll get better right?" And sometimes it does. It didn't this time. It also didn't with the Anita Blake books. God, I can't believe I read 4-6 books of that shit). Then there was that one series where like...this women gets transported through fairy stone rings or stonehenge or something and stays back in the past and has lots of sex.
I think I read those two books series first and that's what made me get really tired of time travel.
It's been done so many times and whenever it does happen, particularly in a mainstream movie, there's always those few people who are like, "omg that's so cool! it's such a new brilliant idea!!" And I'm just sitting there 'wtfing' over it all cause It's. Been. Done. And it has never made sense. Ever.
Yeah.
Fuck time travel.
P.S. If you like time travel cause you find it fun or whatever, good for you. Just don't tell me how new and exciting of an idea it is. I am glad you find it fun. I just don't. Not anymore.

Rest in peace Scouty
Mar. 28th, 2009 01:39 amWe had to put Scout, the family cat that we got when I was in...4th grade I think? He was 14 years old, maybe 15 cause I think his birthday was this month, March 13th according to my sister.
For those who don't know, he lived with my parents and I visit my parent's once a week. A few days ago while my dad was cutting a mat out of his fur with scissors(which you aren't supposed to do with cats), he accidentally cut his skin a little. Yesterday I went over and noticed the wound and it didn't seem right to me so I ended up taking him to the vet. Since the edges were healed up, they needed to cut the edges before they stitched it up. They couldn't do it that day, so he spent the night over there and they would do the stitching in the morning.
This morning I got a call that pretty much said that when they got in there this morning, Scout wasn't doing well. He couldn't breathe by himself so they had to put him in an oxygen tank. They think one of the vessels in his heart ruptured. Said it probably had to do with his heart being weakened by his typhroid problem(he had this for about 2-3 years). They don't think it was related to the stress of being brought in to the vet. Honestly, even if it was, what could we have done? It's not like we shouldn't have brought him to the vet. And if it we didn't bring him to the vet and it still happened, that means what most likely would have happened is that he would have painfully sufficated to death at home. So I'm glad he was at the vet when he couldn't breathe, cause they were able to catch it and put him in the oxygen tank. He was ok-ish in the oxygen tank, but they pointed out how white his nose and gums were, which indicated that he wasn't processing the oxygen well. We could have brought him home, but if he left the tank, that just meant he would sufficate to death in a few hours. So we agreed to have him put to sleep.
We all went over to the vet to say goodbye and such. When I petted him he purred and kneaded the towel, which Scouty almost never does, not being the most affectionate cat. That helped a lot and was really sweet. He actually seemed really calm and sleepy. I didn't stay to see him being put to sleep, which I partly regret. But my parents told me that I should leave and go to class(which I went, parked my car, walked like 10 feet before turning around and going home. hey. I tried.)
I've been mostly ok if I distract myself, but then I'd just get depressed especially if I think about him. So been on and off weepy.
Tomorrow we're going to decide where to bury him. I'm going to suggest in the front of the house, under some bushes where he used to sleep.
ETA: My sister actually suggusted the exact same place. It's pretty. Between the bushes, and flowers bordering the front. <3
Gah, except my mom doesn't want him buried there, cause if the house ever gets rebuilt or worked on, that place may get digged up. So he'll be buried in the back.

Oh Avatar casting, always with the making me want to stab myself in the face.
At least the ethnicities are consistent. I don't have as much as a problem with this as Katara, Sokka, and Suki. Though the whole 'lets make the evil guys in this all middle eastern looking! And all the clear good guys white!' kinda makes me wince. Hopefully the fact that Iroh and Zuko are good guys will cancel that out. Honestly, I think I'd be fine with this if it wasn't for the casting of the four main characters.
ETA: Actually, no. I'm really not fine with making the fire nation middle eastern. Cause while it's nice that they're having more ethnic representation besides white, they're still trying to make something that's based off east asian culture into something that it's not.
Fuck you to whoever is in charge of casting.
I don't want to hear about anymore Avatar casting cause I flip out every time and there's only so much anger I can deal with.
Oh, and somewhat related--the cultural appropriation debate/racefail!2009? I've been avoiding it. Partly because many of the authors that are mentioned are ones that I really like. But at the same time, I know if I thought about it, and if I read through the links...I'll be as frothing as I am with the Avatar wank. I'll probably read through everything in time. Especially the ones with links to book recs. Cause I've come to realize that whenever the books I read have non-white characters done well, I actually get really happy. I never realized it before. There's such a skew towards white characters in fantasy/sci-fi that I never even noticed.

Cause I commented on someone's journal and hey, it sounds fun.
The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me!
My choice. For you.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
* I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
* What I create will be with you in mind.
* It'll be done sometime this year (2009)
* You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be something written, some physical thing made, could be anything at all, but I will make it myself. It's entirely my choice what it is. No quibbles, no refunds. (it will most likely be a sculpture, drawing, or a paper cutout card thing I like to do)
* I reserve the right to do something extremely strange. And ask you strange questions in order to do said strange thing.
The catch:
The catch is that you put this in your journal as well.If you don't, you don't get anything! Honestly don't mind if you do or don't.

I eat icecream cake
Feb. 2nd, 2009 09:09 pmI'm eating icecream cake in attempt to calm myself down because everytime I read about the Avatar casting(updated news being that McCartney's being replaced here) I go into a frothing rage.
Who the FUCK is in charge of casting and how are they so fucking ignorantly offensive. ARGH.
I'm going back to reading Supernatural RPS because I do a baby bird imprint thing when I get into a fandom with fics. The first good fic I read, the pairing in that becomes my OTP and this time it happens to be RPS and I rather be mortified, horrified, and ashamed of myself than read about the Avatar casting.
ETA: Oh! Do you know what also makes me go into a frothy rage is when I read comments that are replying to someone else(didn't read original post) that says, "In most animes the characters do not typical "human" facial features. They are always exaggerated. Hence the ridiculously large eyes."
Do you know what that implies? Someone said that the cast of avatar look caucasian because they have big eyes.
Because, CLEARLY! Asians do NOT have big eyes. Naw, we're all squinty! Including me!

Thoughts on anime and antisocialness
Jan. 16th, 2009 09:26 pmSo, I just watched 78 episodes plus 5 OVAs of Kyou Kara Maou in less than a week. Cause that's what I do when I get into shows/books. Now I really want to read fanfic of the show and I've been going through various communities trying to find good fic. If anyone has any good recs, I'd love to read them.
Also, how did the nosebleed indicating...horniness or whatever develop? I don't know anyone who nosebleeds when they either see something sexual or about to experience something sexual. Seems like a mostly Japanese thing. It makes me cringe a little in fanfics cause it makes no sense. I can ignore it in anime though it may bewilder me for a bit.
I haven't logged on WoW since I first got home from visiting Leeda and Shiny. ^^; I'm going to get scolded by them. But I've been so antisocial! School started as well and ugh. Too many people. So...*waves at them* Sorry!
