Harley, my unlucky greyhound

So I took Harley to the vet today and they took a look at his leg(he was limping last week, and it's a bit swollen) and said it was probably a bone tumor, and they took x-rays with confirm it. The tumor part was caught early at least.

But I took a look around online, and it seems like Harley will probably need the leg amputated(the vet did mention this too). Most bone cancer/tumors are malignant. Osteosarcomas are the most common. Secondary spreads are a serious problem. Amputation will stop the bone tumor and provide pain relief, but usually by the time a bone tumor develops, there's a huge risk of it spreading in the lungs. After amputation, usually the dog will live for about 3-4 months without chemotherapy, and 1 year with it. The chemotherapy is supposed to help stop the secondary speading I think.

He's going to get a biospy done on Friday, and results will be back in about a week. I thinking of asking them to take a chest x-ray as well, to see if there's any secondary spreading already.
